Trip Overview
We’ll pick you up at your hotel bright and early and travel east in our comfortable van or small bus towards Harberton Ranch. On our way to this day trip from Ushuaia, we’ll pass rugged coastlines, ancient forests, and impressive vistas. Arriving at the ranch, we’ll be warmly welcomed by the fourth-generation manager. This manager’s great-grandparents founded the historic estancia or estate! We’ll tour the grounds and learn about its history of wool production. As we walk, observe the ranch’s simple buildings of wood covered with corrugated iron, gardens, stone piers, and terraces.
Then, we’ll hop in a Zodiac boat to visit a huge colony of Magellanic and Gentoo penguins. Get out of the boat and walk with these unique black and white friends. Rambling respectfully around these gracious seabirds, we learn about their lives and conservation. Exceptional photographs of this moment will be one of the greatest memories of your trip. Back on dry land, enjoy a lunch featuring some of southern Argentina’s traditional foods.
After lunch, your guide will lead the group on a hike from Cambaceres Bay along the coast to a waterfall. Enjoy a unique sensation of solitude in an unforgettable landscape. Finally, we’ll wrap up our tour with a visit to Puerto Almanza, the southernmost fishing port in Argentina.
