Trip Overview
Our tour starts with a short and comfortable bus ride from Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world. As we drive, enjoy views of the Tierra Mayor Valley including impressive mountain peaks and the area’s abundant and historic peat bogs.
This is an active hiking experience for those who enjoy walking in the woods and making contact with nature. The first part of our Patagonia trekking is up a steep slope, where the Fuegian forest will surround us. After 45 to 60 minutes of demanding walking, we will leave the forest and start to enjoy incredible views among the mountain tops. Spot the small turquoise lagoon as we carry on uphill along the ridge to reach the summit of Mount Carbajal.
Standing on top of Mount Carbajal in the Sierra Sorondo, we can see the tracks of the glaciers during the last Ice Age. These massive ice formations occupied the Tierra Mayor and Carbajal valleys and as they moved towards the Beagle Channel, they helped shape this unique landscape. It’s an imposing and unforgettable view and on the summit, we’ll rest and enjoy our box lunches before making the trek back down.
